Mining techniques such as the open pit mine are harmfull to the environment nearby. The tailings from the mine for example pollute the land which toxic minerals in tailing ponds which can reach rivers and kill off species living there. The restoration of land does not bring the land back to what it once was before the mine was built. However a sollution would be to create laws that require a greater effort of the restoration of the land.
