Adaptation

This is a Douglas Fir Tree. It has adapted to it's environment by growing thin, waxy needles that are very good at trapping water, so that in the cold months it has enough to survive on. You can find them in the sub-arctic reigon (Boreal forest) and lower down in the deciduous forests as well.
