North American Tundra

The arctic hare lives in the North American tundra. They dont hibernate, they survive the cold with a number of behavioral and physiological adaptations. They have thick fur and have a low surface area to volume ratio that conserves body heat, which is most evident in their shortened ears. In spring, the hare's colours change to blue-gray.
