Located off the northeastern coast of Australia, the Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef in the world. Coral Reefs are formed from calcium carbonate in the skeletons of dead corals. This Coral reef is composed of over 2,900 individual reefs, and 900 islands stretching for over 2,600 kilometers.
