Continental Glacier & a Hoodoo Desert

This is a Continental Glacier. Continental Glaciers are found in areas that are cold, so that the snow from the previous winter will remain frozen and keep from melting during the summer. A Continental Glacier is made up of snow that has been accumulated over thousands of years. Continental Glaciers are large masses of ice formed by compacted snow. All glaciers are created by the compacting of snow to form a large ice land form.

This is a photo of a Hoodoo Desert. A hoodoo is a tall thin build up of rocks that protrudes from the bottom of a drainage basin. Hoodoos are composed of sedimentary rock and is protected by a harder rock at the top of the rock formation. A hoodoo is created by erosion. The tops of the hoodoo are stronger and harder than the bottom to protect the soft rocks from wearing away. Wind, rain, and water cycles cause the erosion of hoodoo's.
