Waterfalls

Waterfalls are found in youthful rivers in tectonically active areas. The softer layer of rock at the base of most waterfalls usually wear away, leaving a rock shelf of the hard rock that the water runs on. There are many different types of waterfalls, such as blocks, cascades, cataract, fan, horsetail and plunge. Some of the largest waterfalls in the world are Angel Falls, Niagra Falls, and Cautley Spout.
